Spring Break: Eaton Academy will be closed March 25-29

Hello, Eaton Academy families,

Spring Break is almost here! There will be no classes or extracurricular activities at Eaton Academy from March 25, 2024 to March 29, 2024. Classes will resume on April 1, 2024. During this time, students are encouraged to rest, relax, and prepare themselves mentally for the remaining portion of the school year. With state testing and our final quarter drawing close, it is paramount that scholars return to their classes with enthusiasm and rigor.

During break, here are some activities that you and your students can do to make sure they are ready for the rest of the school year.

  • Read! Reading month is clipping along, and research consistently finds that one of the best ways to increase students' writing and comprehension skills is reading. Whether you read together or incentivize your scholar by providing some fun rewards, picking up a book is one of the best things you can do during break.
  • See interesting things! Encourage your student's development by exposing them to museums, wildlife, and sights. Below is a list of excellent museums and points of interest around Metro Detroit.
    • Detroit Institute of Arts
    • Motown Museum
    • Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History
    • Michigan Science Center
    • Detroit Historical Museum
    • Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Museum
    • Museum of Contemporary Art and Design
    • Belle Isle Aquarium
    • Henry Ford Museum
    • Dossin Great Lakes Museum
    • Detroit Zoo
  • Play board and card games! Problem solving and puzzle games can increase short term memory, improve mental speed, and reinforce brain cell connections. Whether you are doing a jigsaw, playing chess, or teaching a card game, students can always use the social and neurological benefits that come with playing games with others.
  • Exercise! Getting blood moving with a hike, a basketball game, or by going to the playground. Keeping children active helps physical health, mental health, emotional health, and more.
Besides these activities, make sure your student is relaxed and try to make sure they have time to sleep and socialize. After months of hard work, our scholars deserve a break!

Best,
