School Closing

Dear Eaton Community,
Earlier this week, our teachers and staff at Eaton Academy began developing a plan for our students to continue learning in the event we had prolonged school closure due to COVID-19. Last night’s announcement by Governor Whitmer to close schools for three weeks took us from the planning stage to action stage.  Today, the Eaton team worked and focused on creating lesson plans, preparing online as well as printed resources for our Eaton students, and prepared their classrooms for deep cleaning that will be taking place over the three-week closure.  Student learning and success is the first and only approach we take at Eaton Academy. Although we cannot work with our students face-to-face, we are dedicated and committed to that approach.  Whether students are just beginning to read or preparing for the 8th grade PSAT, this extended closure cannot, and will not, halt their learning.
Students and parents should be receiving communication from their child's teachers over the weekend explaining how instruction and learning will continue during this closure. Parents should also make sure that their contact information at school is accurate and up to date in the main office, and on Classroom Dojo, Remind or other apps/online platforms being utilized, so that teachers and other staff can continue to communicate with families, as needed.

Middle School students will get instruction online through various platforms.  We will be issuing Chromebooks to students that need them to access the curriculum.  A parent or legal guardian is required in order to sign out a Chromebook for use during this time.  For our students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade, the paper resources will be emailed and posted on our Facebook and Webpage so they can be printed at home. They will also be available for pick up at the school.  Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade will use a blended approach of paper and online resources, which will also be emailed and posted on our Facebook and Webpage so they can be printed at home. These will also be available for pick up at the school, if needed. Pick up for Chromebooks and paper resources will on Monday from 9am – 1pm and Tuesday 12pm – 4pm, in the gym.  We will also be available by appointment on those days if needed. We are committed to our student’s success, and it is critical that every student gets the materials they need to continue learning during this closure. We will be flexible in order to ensure we are here for you.
Thank you to all of our Eaton families for your patience and understanding as we all navigate this unprecedented situation together.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at
